Top Hill Low ozone system refurbishment milestone

We’ve hit an important milestone at the Top Hill Low water treatment works as we successfully produced ozone through our new radial diffusion system for Yorkshire Water.

The whole project included replacing the obsolete Trailgas ozone generators with our new state of art, much more efficient M class generators, energy saving catalytic vent ozone destructors, and compressors.

Ozone cannot be stored, therefore it must be generated on site and dissolved into water at the rate of consumption. There are different methods for doing this depending on the size of the water treatment works and flow rates.

The in-pipe radial diffuser is a highly efficient alternative to traditional bubble columns which use porous diffusers. It can ensure over 95% mass transfer efficiency and is particularly effective when there are space restraints, risk of clogging, or a more dynamic mixing effect is required for water treatment.

Well done to the Curio and Enco teams for meeting a tight deadline!
