An exciting update to bring you from Britain’s first wastewater micropollutant removal plant - here are the latest photos from the installation in the Frankton site at Severn Trent as it nears completion.
You can see our ozone generator container and control containers, as well as the contact tanks which contain the diffuser where the ozonation process takes place. You can also see the diffuser arrays being installed in the first two contact tanks. The tanks are able to process 70 m3/h of water per day, removing harmful micropollutants such as trace pharmaceuticals and antibiotic-resistant bacteria as part of Severn Trent’s Bathing Rivers programme.
The Frankton site target date for completion is March 2025. From the pilot testing process to full scale installation, it will have taken us just 12 months to get the new plant designed, built and up and running.
For all the background on how and why Frankton came to be you can read our article in Water Magazine.
